Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) near Fort Lauderdale, FL
Tightening stretched, loose tissue on the arms is impossible without brachioplasty – also known as arm lift surgery. In Coral Springs, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David J. Levens can perform arm lift surgery for patients in Fort Lauderdale and Broward County, who have drooping, excess skin on their upper arms. For the right candidate, arm lift surgery can provide the confidence you need to wear sleeveless clothing again.
What is Arm Lift/Brachioplasty?
Brachioplasty is a cosmetic procedure that targets the upper arm area that is prone to developing loose skin and fat accumulation. Men and women who choose arm lift surgery do so to address the embarrassment of living with arms that flap loose and have fatty bulges above the elbow. Arm lift surgery is sometimes combined with procedures for body contouring after major weight loss.
How Much Does Brachioplasty Cost?
The cost of arm lift surgery is based upon an individual treatment plan that Dr. Levens develops during your consultation. After the appointment, we provide you with a total cost and explain our payment options, including cash, personal check, Visa®, MasterCard® and American Express®. If you are interested in financing your brachioplasty, our patient coordinators will explain how to apply for CareCredit®, Alphaeon Credit, or Prosper® Healthcare Lending.
Benefits of Arm Lift/Brachioplasty
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, more than 16,000 arm lift procedures were performed in 2014, giving testament to the incredible benefits of the procedure for both men and women. Brachioplasty addresses cosmetic concerns in the upper arm that cannot be remedied by diet and exercise alone. The skin no longer conforms to the muscles limiting the ability to shape the arms despite even the best arm exercises.
Candidates for Arm Lift / Brachioplasty
A good candidate for arm lift surgery is bothered by loose tissue on their upper arms. This common problem typically occurs in women, especially after major changes in body weight. You may be a candidate for arm lift in Coral Springs if you are:
- Bothered by your upper arm shape and size.
- At a healthy, stable body weight.
- Motivated to improve the appearance of your arms.

Loose skin and fat on the upper arms are often nicknamed “bat wing” arms. People with the condition often feel very self-conscious about their arms. What Happens During Arm Lift Surgery?
Arm lift surgery can be performed using local or general anesthesia, depending on Dr. Levens recommendations. During the surgery, markings are made to plan the incision, which travels down the inner part of the upper arm. This incision does leave a scar. However, Dr. Levens will take care to place it in an inconspicuous location. A good candidate is willing to accept the surgical scar in exchange for arms that are slimmer and more toned.
After incisions, Dr. Levens will remove loose, hanging skin and tissue. He may also use liposuction to reduce fat in the upper arm and surrounding areas. Sutures are then put in place to carefully close the incisions thus leaving as minimal scarring as possible.
Recovery from Arm Lift Surgery
After your arm lift, Dr. Levens will send you home with specific post-operative instructions including using pain medications for a few days as needed, wearing special compression garments, and keeping your arms slightly elevated. Your arms will feel sore, and your mobility will be limited for a few weeks.
