All About Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Ideal Candidates
Two most significant considerations are the patient’s overall health to help minimize risks and their expectations/ goals. When consulting with a plastic surgeon, a complete history and examination will help to better assess their suitability for abdominoplasty. Age may not be a barrier, as sometimes 50-60 year olds may be healthier than some 20-30 year olds. Optimal health includes well controlled medical conditions, smoking cessation and a stable healthy weight, diet and exercise routine. Recovery
Early post op activities need to be limited for the first 1-2 weeks but it is very important to move around the house as much as possible (slower than usual) to promote good healing both physically and mentally. Return to work at 10 days to 2 weeks is possible with restrictions of any vigorous activities for another 4-6 weeks until return to full, unrestricted activities is possible. A regular exercise and diet routine after 6 weeks is very important to maintain good results.
Results
The results can be very dramatic. Patients can expect to see significant smoothing of abdominal skin, disappearance of most lower stretch marks and a shaplier contour.
