Octavia Spencer, the beloved Oscar-winning star of the 2012 phenomenon The Help, has been speaking out about her recent breast lift.

In an interview last year with Parade Magazine, Spencer revealed that one of the ways she would be celebrating her win would be through this breast surgery. In her words, “I am going to get my boobs lifted. That’s going to be my first gift. I’m going to do that. I figured going into my 40s I want my boobs where they were when I was 17.”

The Help Star Loves Her New Look

Spencer recently spoke about her results on The View, stating that, “I got them a little bit smaller, and a little lift,” she said. “You probably can’t tell too much.” This implies that she eventually opted for a combination of a breast reduction surgery and a breast lift, a pair of unique procedures that can be combined into one surgery. This allows for a decrease in the total amount of breast tissue, as well as a change in the overall position of the breasts. The resulting higher position creates a firmer and more youthful appearance.

Spencer also discussed how she had lost nearly 20 pounds in four months. For many women, weigh loss may further lower their breasts, increasing the benefit of a breast lift. And despite a potential loss of breast volume, these changes after weight loss may give the chest an uneven appearance.

Breast imbalance is one of the many visual concerns that may be addressed with a breast lift, as breasts may be out of balance with each other or with the rest of the body. In addition to breast reductions, breasts lifts may also be combined with a breast augmentation to bring about the best overall result.
